Another loss: Robert G. Myers died on July 23 at his home in San Diego, Calif. C. Wilder Smith writes that in spite of some health problems (who of us hasn't?), he and Barbara are enjoying life with limited activities in their hometown, Cutler, Maine. In addition to their two daughters, they have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren "plus one half." Their grandchildren are all married except the two 17-year old identical girl twins, who are a "refreshing experience."

Dutch Schroedel recently suffered the double tragedy of losing his wife and being confined to the hospital and unable to attend the funeral. Flo died on August 3 in their home after a long illness. Dutch had been hospitalized many times in the last few years but is still full of the old fighting spirit. Flo, like Dutch, was active in many civic affairs, and a member of colonial and patriotic societies.

Larry and Dot Leavitt were able to escape the heat in Hanover during August for a respite at their summer home on Lake Sunapee. It was Dot's first time away from Hanover in quite a while and a restful change for both.

Harry White reports that his message to President Freedman deploring the existence of the Review and approving the president's educational aims brought a cordial reply.

Dave Davis wonders where MarshallNewton ever picked up the name "Scoof." So do I.

Quiz question: What Dartmouth graduate led the U.S. Marines on "The Shores of Tripoli" in 1805?
