Anticipating our February plea for news of grand- and great-grandchildren in the 1920 family, comes this cheering account from Laura Carter: "During late October to mid-November I traveled to Reston, Va., to the home of Terry and son Doug Carter '49, where I saw all five great-grandchildren and three granddaughters (Cindy Bass, Judy Lively, Kathy Pate). Cindy and Jeannie flew in from Campton, N.H.; Kathy, Kaitlin, and Tyler from Jonesboro, Ga.; Judy, Shannon, and Emily are in Chantilly, Va. A fine family reunion!" And good news about Laura herself!

The splendid Christmas newsletter from Doc Miller's son Erwin "Dusty" Miller '62 and wife Margi updates the younger Millers: in 1987 Emilie (who had considered Dartmouth) entered Colby College in Waterville, Maine; Betty became Worcester (Mass.) Academy's first exchange student with the Alice Ottley School in Worcester, England; and Sarah became a freshman at Worcester Academy, where she plays girls' varsity soccer. The older Millers visited Dusty's sister Edith Heier in Minden, Germany.

Last March our Valley News printed a striking full-page photo of Pat Holbrook studying the annual town report at the Grantham town meeting. In late December the News ran a page of "1987 Images, Our Photographer's Favorites/' and Pat's rugged New Hampshire profile led all the rest, upstaging Gary Hart answering embarrassing questions at the Hanover Inn last June

May you all keep warm and be inspired to drop us a line or two.
