Ophthalmic surgeons everywhere use techniques and instruments developed by Dr. Tom Aaberg. A specialist in diseases of the retina, Tom is the new director of the Emory University Eye Care Center, Atlanta, Ga., Calhoun professor and chairman of the department of ophthalmology, and section head of ophthamology in the Emory Clinic. Tom is best known for his work on surgical procedures to correct the leading cause of adult blindness—diabetic retinopathy. Prior to his service at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he became a full pro- fessor in 1976, Tom took his medical degree from Harvard and has served with the Na- tional Institutes of Health, U.S. Public Health Service, Oklahoma Medical School, and the Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Among many professional honors, Tom serves as associate editor of the American Journal of Ophthalmology. We wish Tom, Judy, and family success and happiness in Atlanta.
