Notes for May Almag: 2/22 Reviewed file—all used already. Thought about recent contacts with '29ers. Same old names. No news. Wrote four more notes.

2/26 Tried to call Archie Crowley. Called Ben Stacey who'd also been trying. Wrote to families of Russell Thomas, SydneyMills, and Paul Kelsey for possible obit material, dammit. Called Bill Andres. Usual warm visit. Bill's traded his earlier ills for a slipped disc. He says John Dickey is about the same—nowhere.

3/2 Called Dick Eberline for news of Ar- chie. He too had tried. Had a great visit. Wish all '29ers would try these calls. Plenty of Dartmouth mail—none from '29. JohnMoxon called—a happy chat. He says SawKier's son Porter Kier is written up in Smithsonian.

3/9 Called Dan Luten and had a great visit. Look for a review of his ProgressAgainst Growth in a coming Almag. One review says, "Dan Luten is one of the few in the field who is both wise and competent." Dan's presidency of Friends of the Earth not only inspired books but introduced him to his new wife, Marion, its controller.

3/10 Ben Stacey has traced Archie to Pilgrim Rehab Center in Peabody, Mass. He's recovering from a rough hip operation. Told Dick E.

Most '29ers I call want to talk about Dartmouth's bad press. I'm in constant touch with the College. I urge any '29er who wants a true picture of things to call me collect at 617/759-3188 anytime to talk it over.

3/12 Deadline looms, so: Old age has blessed me with the nerve To cast off Reason's fetters, Accept rewards I don't deserve And lecture to my betters. So, friends, don't shed your futile tears For days of Pan and Cupid. Think, now they blame our passing years. They used to call us stupid.
