Heard from Don Barr a bit ago that he is thinking of retirement in two or three years. Don continues in the banking business in New Bedford, Mass. He and Ann have a daughter enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, with another daughter and son in the world of work.
Dan Rothenberg has joined the board of directors of the Gifford School in Weston, Mass. President of the C & R Management Corp., Dan has had over 40 years' experience in the real estate development business.
Currently a professor of economics at UCLA, George Hilton is the recipient of the Gerald M. Best Award for lifetime contributions to railroad history. Could this interest have been kindled by frequent trips to Boston and Northampton on the old B & M, George?
Prexy Gus Gillaugh has passed along a note from Jim Kennedy from Lookout Mountain, Tenn. As of last April, Jim and Dottie were the proud grandparents of six, including triplets and twins! Jim reports that fellow Tennessean Joe Davenport is quite ill and is spending most of his time now in Florida at 47 Village Walk, Ponte Vedra Beach, 32082. I'm sure Joe would appreciate hearing from his many Dartmouth friends.
Roger Foster has rejoined the Foster Company, a Fitchburg, Mass.-based fullservice real estate firm, as principal and treasurer, overseeing new-business development in the greater Boston area. Long active in the real estate appraisal and counseling field, Rog resides in Lunenburg. The immediate past present of the Fitchburg Art Museum, he is a museum trustee and active in several Fitchburg civic organizations.
Bob and Nancy Sandoe have moved recently into a new home in Etna, N.H. Bob has been named the new director of "Headrest," an upper Connecticut Valley agency providing drug counseling and a 24-hour hotline. The Sandoes will continue to commute on weekends to their Acworth, N.H., home; however, their many Hanover area friends are delighted to have them nearby for most of the week!
Since the last column word has been received of the death of Harris Warren Powers in Nashua, N.H. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and three children. Also, we have learned of the passing of Henry Woodworth Shute in Exeter, N.H. Henry's survivors include his wife, Dorothy, five daughters, a son, stepdaughter, three stepsons, a brother, and ten grandchildren. To the families of Harris and Henry we extend sincerest condolences.
