From Elizabeth, N.J., to Katmandu, single women are severely depressed, weeping bitterly, and yes, even jumping out of windows. Why? Because Bruce Bierman and Rob Worley finally bit the proverbial bullet and got hitched. Festivities began in Chittendon, Vt., during the weekend of September 16 when Biers married Krista Collier in a classic New England church where George, Martha, or one of the Washingtons must have slept at some point. A reception followed at the Killington Summit Lodge. Guests included yours truly, Mike and Charlotte McCarthy, Jeffand Sally Jackson, J.K. Saer, and Bobby Garry 'BO. The Jacksons live in Dallas where Jeff heads up the corporate finance department of American Airlines. (Actually, I'm not sure if he's running the place but would you be as interested if I said he was doing the xeroxing for the chairman?) Last March, the first little Jackson arrived Lydia Jane. J.K. finally decided to bag the corporate rat race; he has sold his company in New Or leans and has become the manager of the produce department at the Acme Market on Bourbon Street. Being the Ail-American Green Key type, J.K. manages to secure invitations to most '79 social events. For example, in June, he attended Harry andMichelle Griffith's wedding in Cleveland. Harry is affiliated with Standard Oil, but J.K. could not remember what he does.
Rob Worley and Pat Sibley were married in Philly on September 23. Following a ceremony in a beautiful chapel built, owned, and operated by the Worley family, a number of '79s exchanged war stories at a sumptuous reception. Mark and Julie Nawrocki came down from Rochester, N.Y., where they are completing residencies, Mark in ob-gyn and Julie in surgery. They have decided to take a year's sabbatical from the grind and soon they will be leaving for a clinical stint in South Africa, followed by six months of international travel.
Rob's adopted family, the Hughes clan, was also in town. As I recently reported, Jennifer and her husband, Doug, live in San Francisco, where Doug practices corporate law and Jennifer pilots her own firm, Hughes Communications. Kathy Harper,John Gilbertson, and their daughter Carter attended too; they have moved from New York to Chicago—John is an investment banker and Kathy has retired from banking. Louisa Guthrie, Brian Briggs, and their three-week-old son, Jack, heard Rob was serving filet so they showed up; Louisa and Brian have started their own contracting firm in N.Y. Finally, Joe andPaola Nastri arrived from Hartford, Conn. Joe is the senior VP of the First Bank of West Hartford.
The Kannapolis, N.C., Daily Independent has announced that Steve St. Clair has joined the H & M Medical Clinic. Steve graduated from Columbia Med School and completed a residency in occupational medicine at Duke. Steve will be providing consulting services to businesses seeking to develop preemployment and medical surveillance programs.
And last but not least, John West reports that in April he married Wendy Weymouth, Colby-Sawyer 'BB. Wedding guests included Emil Pollack, Dave Philhower, JayFrench, Neal Luppescu, Austin Lyons,Steve Manacek, Bob Brown, Hank Barrett, and Doug Arion. The Wests live in Seattle; John is with the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington. Please note, plans for our 10th Reunion are underway. Tom Tomai, the reunion chairman, has scheduled the bash for the weekend of June 15 and 16, 1990. Mark your calendars and make your plans now!
