Doris Campbell celebrated her 90th birthday on February 7. A surprise coffee hour, with a huge cake, was given for her after the February 5 service at her church, The Second Church in Newton, West Newton. Doris has been very active in that church for over 60 years - as minister's assistant before her marriage to John, and a volunteer in many ways since then. She is also the memorial gifts coordinator for our Dartmouth class of 1921 and treasurer of her 1921 class at Smith.
Sam Plumb is 27 days younger than Doris Campbell. He lives quietly in his native Streator, III., which is quite a distance from Hanover. I believe he has returned only once since he graduated. I recall a pleasant visit when I sat next to him at a class dinner during our 35th Reunion in 1956.
President Ray Mallary and the steering committee made an excellent choice in appointing Furber and Mary Haight as covice presidents to fill the office vacated by the death of Dave Plume. As we grow older we should depend more on the misnamed "weaker" sex. Let's all give a Wah-Hoo-Wah to Furb and Mary.
