I am indebted to Harry Ambrose for calling to my attention a recent New York Times article featuring our classmate Jack Krumpe, who has been named president of the New York Islanders, the last professional team on Long Island. Jack seems well qualified for his new job with his prior experiences as former president of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, and the New York Racing Association and former chief executive officer of the Meadowlands, Madison Square Garden, and the Javits Convention Center. Following a gall bladder operation last summer, Jack was lured from retirement by fellow Long Islander and chairman and general manager of the Islanders, Bill Torrey. So instead of relaxing and traveling he is hard at work rebuilding the team's image, arena, and ticket sales. Given the Islanders current 15-21-4 record, that last goal could be difficult. His wife, Kitty, and 13-year-old yellow Labrador Czonka will have to wait a bit for that retirement to finally happen.

From Nashville Ken Lundstrom sends season's greetings to all 'sss. Ken and his wife, Katny, have recently moved into a new home and are still contemplating unopened boxes from their first move. Their first son, Bill, was married in November to Linda Morehart in Wilmington, Del., with brother Scott as best man. The "greatest wedding reception ever" according to Ken was catered by none other than classmate Lyn Brock. Lastyear Scott received his B.S. degree (plant science) from the University of Delaware. Their youngest son, Jeff, is a junior in high school where he lettered in football and is playing hockey and lacrosse. Kathy keeps busy with community activities including New Neighbors League and a 6th grade Sunday School class. Ken is doing market development work with some success at Reemay, Inc., a Du Pont "spin-off." He is also active with local Dartmouth activities including hosting the Nashville visit of the basketball team. He would like to see any '55 visiting in the area.

My thanks to Herman Christinsen '51 for sending me an article with a picture of Gene Elsbree in full tennis regalia. It seems that Gene has recently set up his own communications consulting business after resigning as vice president of investor relations for the Cooper Companies of Palo Alto, Calif., with the result that he has time to enjoy tennis and a less stressful life. Cooper had been engaged in a proxy fight with Gene fielding as many as 100 calls from investors a day. According to the article, he is now glad to sit on the sidelines for this one.

Dr. Daniel D. Nixon has been elected a co-director of the Mt. Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami Beach, Fla. He received his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and completed special training at Mt. Sinai and Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He and his wife, Tamara, have three children and live in Miami Beach. Congratulations Dan.
