The last time that we heard from Paul Casella, he had won an award at a poetry film festival in San Francisco. Paul's poetic pursuits persisted proportionately in 1989. From the Writers Workshop at the University of lowa, he created the first installment of Poetry Television (PTV), a 50-minute presentation of 35 poems read with a variety of video backdrops. According to the lowa City PressCitizen, Paul used his own apartment and fire escape as a makeshift studio for the majority of the filming. His first tape will surely not be his last, and the concept has won acclaim on a national level. PTV is on sale in various markets, and the tape has been shown on a number of campuses since last year. Check your local cable listings . . .

The majority of the news that I receive deals with '87s in school. It will be interesting, trendwise, to see how the bulk of information on the class switches from being in school to having children to being driven crazy by said children to convincing said children to apply to Dartmouth to .. . but I'm getting ahead of myself.

From the law school ranks, we have AliceToole at Fordham in New York, Lynn Mahoney at Vanderbilt, Ann Lamb at Suffolk in Boston, and Susie Olson at the this-close-to-the-national-championship-just- like-the-Broncos University of Colorado. So, if you don't know a habeas corpus from a hole in the ground, give one of them a call.

If your needs are medical in nature, we have you covered. Danny Dubin is in the midst of his third year at Harvard, and he recently delivered a presentation on endstage kidney disease under the sponsorship of the AMA. He is currently on his ob-gyn clinical rotation and might pursue gynecology as his specialty. Eugene Kim is a thirdyear med student at the University of Rochester and is pursuing general surgery. SaraDann and George Lynch are in their second year at Vanderbilt, and Devon Davis has begun her first year there.

Chris Marquardt is back in the country after receiving a master's degree in African history from Oxford. He spends his time working for Greenpeace magazine and wards off debt by singing, playing guitar, and bartending in Washington, D.C.

I received a card from Erin Foster in December wishing me "Happy religious observance of your choice." That is truly a message designed to placate even the most offendable folks around. Erin left her job doing graphic design and consulting last year and enjoyed a short sabbatical by driving from New York to Florida. The highlight of her trip was a prolonged stop in Orlando, where she "bought lots of Mickey Mouse stuff." It must be some kind of addiction. Anyway, Erin has settled down a bit in Westport, Conn., where she develops and implements marketing plans for loan products, most often mortgages.

Theresa Nibi wrote recently of her Bank of Boston job which, much to her delight, has required frequent trips to California! She also reports that Jennifer Lane recently found her ID on the floor of a crowded Boston bar. My obvious reaction to this was, "What was Jennifer doing on the floor of a bar?" However, since it was a letter and not a phone call, Theresa could give me no response.

Speaking of California (wasn't IP), VickiRydell is now a systems engineer trainee for IBM in Costa Mesa. She received her M.B.A., from the University of Connecticut last year, and now all she wants is Dartmouth visitors with whom to check out the local hot spots on bicycle. I have volunteered with the hopes of setting a good example for mv class.
