Dear Class: It is 49 years, 11 months, and a clay or two, depending on the mail, since we paraded out of Hanover and into the real world. Those years have been packed full to overflowing with happenings we never, ever dreamed of Now, we're marching back for a few days. We may have trouble recognizing each other at first, but it's going to be goodvery good. Hope you'll be there!

An urgent appeal to all 1940 authors from Bob Graham, who is chair of the Golden Anniversary Book Exhibit, a traditional display of books published since graduation by the 50-year reunion class authors. Books and a profile of the author go to Ken Cramer, College Archivist, Room 111, Baker Library, Hanover, NH 03755. On a personal note, Bob reports that he and Lilli have moved from Lyme to Thetford: RR#2, Box 164, Garey Road, East Thetford, VT 05043.

In April you read about 1940's "War Diary," which will be distributed at reunion. We are pleased to be able to tell you that a substantial gift (unsolicited) in memory of Phillips G. Huffman, from his younger brother Robert ('47) was given towards the cost of the "War Diary."

On a less pleasant note, I am sorry to report the death of D. Lee Bassett. The report came from Scotty Rogers, who was present at the service in Cleveland (along with many other classmates and scores of friends) and at the graveside in Columbus, Ind.

Nice to see the article about Jay Weinberg's work on the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) in the February/March issue of Modern Maturity. They arrange free flights for cancer patients (to a place of treatment) on the empty seats of corporate planes.

Chal Carothers will be at the 50th. He and I have been trying to track down those great movies of his that we saw at the 25 th. Bob MacMillen is helping.

From Gard Ashley, a lengthy (and welcome) note which included a promise (threat?) to play and sing during "prime time" in the tent. He's already practicing. Card hopes to see two of our authors at reunion, among others: Page Smith and Howard Wriggins. Come on, guys, show up!

Sid Phillips sent on some good wishes for my health, and added that he's staying in shape via a nearby indoor track. Now, that's a good way to prepare for reunion!

Jack Fitzgerald has the last word, in the shape of a postcard souvenir of the visit of Senator Kennedy to Doyle's cafe in Boston, 1988. The occasion was the dedication of the John F. Fitzgerald Room (Mayor of Boston). I gather the celebration was reinstituted on St. Paddy's day.

That's it, boys and girls. See you there in June!
