April is a good month for all of you "undecideds" to get off the fence and plan I to come to the 50th! Just let Brownie know. (E.T. Browne, Box 237, Washington Depot, CT 06794.)

Page Smith is being published in the Hanford (Calif.) Sentinel. His column, "A Time to Live," appears every Sunday. Page's newest book, Killing the Spirit: HigherEducation in America, will be published by Viking this winter.

Next, a letter from Trenny Trenholm. He and Louise had a super trip to the U.K. last August. . . Dublin, then England. They also shared the Bowman experience of driving a stick shift on the side roads of England! They will be with us for the 50th! His parting shot: "You know you're getting older when your reaction time is longer than your attention span."

Other reunion-comers are Lew and Janet Chipman. Dr. Lew writes that they enjoyed their annual trip to the Hanover area last January . . . skiing around Woodstock, including our old friend, Suicide Six. Keep it up, Lew.

And a good word from fellow scribe BobAustin. He and June enjoyed a true family holiday season, complete with seven grandchildren. Bob was out on the ice in January, showing the folks how to cut ice with a handsaw! Them were the days.

Joe Burnett is hard at work on the book for our 50th Reunion, and he's getting good help from Duncan Todd '74, son of our Tom Todd who was in Switzerland, skiing. The book is coming along, says Joe. We hear that it will be a good one! Also coming off the press in time for reunion, a book about the war experiences of 1940 during WW II. Les Nichols did the gathering and Jack Little assisted in the editing and printing. If you responded to Les's call, then you're in the book.

I am sorry to report the passing of three of our classmates: Robert G. Varney,Philip K. Alexander Jr., and Farris Campbell Jr. Our sympathies go to their families and friends. Obituaries will appear in this or a subsequent issue.

On a happier note, let me urge you to dig out the February issue of this publication and read, in Dr. Wheelock's Journal, a brief but heartening interview with Murry Bowden '7l, the new president of the Alumni Council. A few of his quotes: "I absolutely refuse to permit the Council to be a stage for the playing out of prescribed business." And, "If the Trustees are deciding on something they're unsure of, they should run it by the Alumni Council. The static in the system is growing." Please read the whole interview. Mr. Bowden sounds like a winner!
