In the middle of August, Shirley and I had a delightful dinner and evening with Dick and Terry Lansburgh at the Chatham Bars Inn. This is an inn from the old school with a long crescent-shaped veranda facing the Atlantic, with marvelous service and a great kitchen.

Dick is with Arthur A. Adler Inc. in the D.C. area, and I encourage all working classmates to keep it up and keep the Social Security fund full. Terry is on the board of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and accompanied them to Russia last summer.

I may have missed the announcement, but I wonder if we have any great-grandfathers in the class. Let's hear from you patriarchs—with the date that it occurred. Now that Hal Lindley, our new treasurer, has settled Bob Clark's South American bonds for four cents on the dollar, we might be able to give our first great-grandfather a suitable award.

I have just had a very pleasant phone chat with Fred and Polly Lent. Fred was home at the time, but will have to return to the hospital the week of September 12 for additional chemotherapy. He is most anxious to get that treatment behind him so that he can get back to what he does best (being a hell of a nice guy).

Just as we go to press we had our longawaited visit from Dick and Jane Kimmel. They both looked great and we had a couple of wonderful days on Cape Cod. We had our usual midnight phone conversation with Killer and Marie Kane. The next scheduled stop for the Kimmels was with Mikeand Connie Thurston. Then back to Chicago by way of Canada.
