We've mentioned the great '53 migration to Harbour Ridge, Fla. But wait, '53s are going other places too. Hearing of a clan gathering in Aspen, Colo., in March, your secretary felt compelled to attend, finding Ted and AudreySpiegel, Gene and Nancy Gabianelli and son Geno 'Bl, Charley and CharlotteBuchanan with daughter Claire '84 and two sons, Steve and Marianne Pearsall, ButchEdgar, and others. The Spiegels had the first party in their new house built by George Shaw '54. Butch has a condo and Dave Florence stayed there two weeks before I did. This group may party a bit, but they ski hard and well.
Though spared by Hugo, Hilton Head island is bracing for the annual '53 assault on golf courses, bars, and other facilities in April. The Gosses have a condo there, Dave and Barbara Thomas just retired there, and Barry and Virginia Schoeder are building in the Sea Pines Plantation. Coming in are Dick and Cynthia O'Connor,Jim and Jackie Cartmell, Dace and Bloodmer, Jay and Marrilyn, who are coming down from Hanover.
Curt and Judy Bury are in England for the next two-three years with IBM. Their modernized 1485 farmhouse with lovely gardens is only two kilometers to the office at IBM's Horsley R&D lab. Curt now trades his Dartmouth football statistics for rugby.
Bernie Sudikoff sent along a Boston Globe clipping re Houghton Mifflin's new board member, Dave Replogle, who is also executive vice president. Kent Robinson has been appointed president of Gerber Apparel Group and chairman of its three operating units including Buster Brown Apparel.
John and Elena Kingsland and daughter Susan '87 were here recently to see Sam '91 star as Creon in Antivone with the Dartmouth Players. How does he remember all those lines?
The Kingslands are recently back from Israel and Jordan with visits to Petra and excavations in Iraq.
Reminding you of the annual '53 graduation party at the Hanover Inn, Saturday, June 9, from 5-6:30 p.m. All '53s and their families and friends are invited to attend. The class of '90 includes Earl Allen, Lisa Anderson, Jane Blum, Ted Carleton, Lowell Holway, Sally Horton, Paul Simpson, and Ted Whittemore. Apologies to any I've missed.
May you all find work!
