The Ben Drew '32 Annex to the Ledyard Canoe Clubhouse is finished. On a sunny May afternoon a crowd of Ledyard enthusiasts, old and young, attended a dedication ceremony on the banks of the Connecticut. The program pointed up the club motto "Cohaereamus," let's stick together. Jay Evans '49 emceed. Anthony Aufdenkampe '91 introduced other undergraduates and directors of the club. Recent graduates spoke on what Ledyard means to canoeists and how the new annex will fill a real need. Pete Knight, who masterminded the memorial, told stories of his canoe trips, especially those with Ben, giving some of us neophytes an insight into what the Canoe Club has contributed to decades of Dartmouth students. Pete announced that the Drew family has established the Ben Drew Memorial Fund to maintain the annex and contribute to the future of the club. Ben's daughter Sarah spoke for her family, while Sally Drew watched the dedication proceedings from a car that had been driven up to the entrance of the annex. Other '32s joining me at this heartwarming affair were Art Allen, RonOlmstead, and Dick Stoiber.

To the surprise of our redoubtable Head Agent Milt Alpert and his lovely Lillian, engraved invitations summoned them to a "Dinner with Music and Presentation of the Torch of Liberty Award" at the Palm Aire Country Club (Florida) on a Sunday last spring. The award came on behalf of B'nai B'rith, and the recipients of this signal honor were none other than Milt and Lil. Dr. Bruce Alpert '69 made the presentation to his parents for the League, honoring "Judge and Mrs. Milton Alpert as a prototype for the many couples who share their devotion to humanities common causes." Heartiest congratulations to two more '32s who have excelled.

Great to hear from Dorothy Meyers, widow of Chas, that she still thrives in Allentown, Pa. John Zimmerman, who has a choice contact with undergraduates when the Dartmouth sailing team visits Stonington for nearby practice twice a year, finds them refreshing and well-mannered. No surprises there.
