I recently received a note and photograph from Cy Muromcew about his latest international assignment. Cy is now working on a joint U.S.-Soviet project on the destruction of Chemical Weapons which takes him frequently to Geneva and the Soviet Union. The photo shows Cy being led by two Soviet companions in Kambarka, Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, while exiting a helicopter. Cy says his travel schedule has prevented him from attending class functions but hopes to catch up with us one of these days.
John Demas has sent us a brief note onhis situation. John has returned to the U.S. after working several years in Brussels and Geneva for Arthur Andersen. He has had significant health problems which included an extended hospitalization, but is now feeling better and getting caught up with things put aside during his illness. John is living in New Jersey and is looking forward to renewing his contacts with the class and College.
While it might seem that our 40th Reunion in 1995 is well in the future, work is already underway for this event. Bernie Siskind and Jim Perkins are undertaking the production of a class epic along the lines of the recent Civil War series. They will need subject matter from our years together in Hanover in the form of photographs, either prints or slides. A formal request and instructions will be provided later in the year.
Unfortunately we were unable to attract enough classmates to hold the planned winter mini-reunion in Hanover in February. We are now thinking about planning one at an alternative site for next year. Your class officers would appreciate any suggestions or comments concerning potential locations and topics for such an event.
Class members have been busy traveling for both business and pleasure in spite of the war in the Gulf. Bob Fanger has been in the Chicago area, where he sawjoe Mathewson, and had several days skiing at Vail, where he saw Harry and Tanya Lewis. Stan Bergman and Jack Doyle and wives spent several weeks on a chartered yacht in the Grenadines. It has been reported that the Bruce Alexanders have been skiing in Switzerland. And Ruth and I spent two weeks in Florida at Sanibel Island and Disney World, following which I went off to Maui to spend two weeks with a former colleague at Kaanapali Beach.
Brooks and Gale Parker have announced the engagement of their daughter Julie to Michael Baughan. Julie handles classified and Northeast regional advertising for CFO Magazine in Boston, and Michael is running a small company producing energy controls on the South Shore. A summer wedding is planned.
By the time you read this, Brooks and his volunteer crew of assistant class agents will have this year's Alumni Fund drive well underway. The goal is to improve our class role in the College, continuing the momentum established at our last reunion. We all need to play a meaningful part in this endeavor.
