On the heels of the Fayes' generous gift comes news that Marge Chase has donated her home in Etna to the Medical School. Her eight-room house on eight acres, plus six acres of forest, is valued at $410,000. Many of us remember the house because of Marge's and Herb's hospitality, another facet of the generosity and interest in the class and College that earned class awards for both of them, 15 years apart. The house was designed in part by architect HenryNewell, and it is reported that its construction was supervised by classmates then residing in Hanover. Marge is moving to Kendal, a luxurious new retirement community just completed on the north side of Hanover.

A note from John Marsh enclosed a column explaining why life begins at 80. Too long for my space, so I'll pass it on to Milt, who will be glad to know why. The Marshes are well, except that arthritis has obliged Flavia to give up the piano. Milt, however, has polymialgia rheumatica, which kept him away from the C.O.W. and threatens their September trip to Woodstock. In addition, he says, "It's a hassle to get from here to Hanover, as you can well appreciate." Amen!

Bob Keene left Mexico "for good" in April to be nearer his family in the Hanover area. He expects to miss many features of Mexican life, having become part Mexican after 20 years as an "inmigrado," and he enjoyed sharing George Geiger's house-building woes there last winter. He says he actually dreams in better Spanish than he can speak when awake.

Bob obviously didn't reach Hanover for the April 26-28 C.O.W. Bill OBrion reports that Wolf, Fenton, Magenau, and Widmayer attended, and that it was a successful event, "except for a really lousy dinner (salmon with thousands of bones) Friday night."

The Thirtyteer reported Gene Magenau's surgery for a torn rotator cuff. From my observation of other rotator cuff cases (Leila's and Kay Chilcote's, and three recent ones in Green Valley), I'd say that this is an opportune moment for Ted Wolf to try another tennis match with Gene.
