86 "I never thought I'd ever be defending a guy named Slash." Greg Labate. The post box was hill of news this month and a few phone calls didn't hurt either! Thanks to all. Greg Labate wrote a long letter from Los Angeles, where he works for Manatt Phelps, Philips & Kantor, a legal firm specializing in entertainment litigation. The firm is fairly large and, as Greg puts it, "known for its liberal leanings." He writes, "I get a lot of our clients out of (and sometimes into) trouble. We represent such divergent (sic) entertainment clients as Guns N' Roses, Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, Hammer (it was my idea to drop that "MC" thing from his name), Michael Douglas, Louie Anderson, Greg Louganis, the L.A. Clippers, the L.A. Kings, etc.... Always lots and lots of fringe benefits. It was interesting being surrounded by Axl Rose and Slash from Guns N' Roses in a deposition last week. I'll even be at the Academy Awards next year, so look for me. No, I haven't married or divorced yet. It's been mostly surf, sun, sand and suing. Oh, if you're ever in Los Angeles, give me a call. I'll give you a patented "L.A. by Night" tour of the city. And I can even get you a great table at Spago... I used to date the pastry chef there." Greg! Such a life ...

And another full-page. letter came in the post from Ellen Le Stourgeon Lawless. Ellen, as you may remember from the days of Howie as class secretary, was married a few years ago to an Irishman, Gerard. And it seems there is another Lawless to celebrate with now, since the birth of their daughter, Anna, on July 22 a): 6:22 a.m. She writes, "We are absolutely delighted with our new little daughter—the past few weeks have been the happiest, most exciting of our lives. If any of our friends are considering parenthood, we have to say we highly recommend it! I left Booz, Allen to become a fulltime mother-to-be. Learning new skills such as sewing, knitting, and basic household management, developing relationships with other expectant mothers, shopping, exercising, eating well, and sleeping, all proved to be very time-consuming activities. I still managed to find time to take several classes of special interest—Irish history, French, clothesmaking, and golf. After five years between consulting and business school, the past year has been a very welcome change!" The Lawless family currently lives in London.

Another birth to celebrate is that of Ashley Grevelink, daughter of Suzanne VirnelliGrevelink and her husband Joop. Ashley was born in June and is quite a handful to her mother, who also moonlights as a practicing dermatologist. The Grevelink family recently moved to the suburbs of Boston.

John Marchiony was married to Debbie Rowe '87 in front of a crowd of fellow Alpha Chi men. Andrew Getraer has cut off his long hair and gone to work for the family business. He is the marketing and sales director for the geothermal power company, and his job takes him all over the world. Debra Rudich is an account rep for HBO in New York City. And Kathy Bannon Keith finished law school this year and just took the bar exam. She awaits her results. Good luck, Kathy!

Well, that's all the news. Write me! Fiftycent stamp!
