The holidays are here! The snow dusts the ground in Chicago! The wind howls. And so does my new daughter Alexandra, who arrived in a hurry courtesy of my wife, Andrea, and the stork on October 9. I am a very proud Papa these days. It's a great feeling. Mark and Robin Howard Johnson can relate; they escorted son Nicholas safely into this world in mid-September. It will be Baby Central at our Tenth Reunion, June 18-20.

Oh, Billy! Billy! Yep, Bill Robbins is on tie move again. When we last checked in on our intrepid Easterner, he was marrying Hila, backpacking in Paris for their honeymoon, and running the show for new products at Warner-Lambert. Mr. Robbins, though, never seems to stay put for very long. He's now director of business development for Bio-Imaging Technologies in New Jersey, responsible for overseeing the Company's marketing plans and corporate-communication efforts. Bio-Imaging Technologies provides consulting services to help its clients facilitate drug and device evaluation. Very nice work, Billy R.

Eddie Lear took a break in the action from the Office of Trials at the California State Bar to say hello, provide some vignettes of Left Coast life, and share some vital information about fellow '83s. Here's a quick update on Eddie: "I recently left a downtown law firm for the big bucks that are heaped on those servicing the public good as prosecutors. Highlight thus far is special assignment in South Central (LA.) right before the Rodney King verdict. Lowlight is aftermath." To reduce the tension, Esq. Ed hosted a visit from Tom Oppenheitn. Join lives in Oklahoma City. Tom needed to get out of Oklahoma City. Eddie took him to beach parties galore, crossed paths with Davies Beller (investment banker at First Boston) and Jeff Soinski (hanging out at his old digs before saddling up and heading off to Houston to run his own pharmaceutical firm), and generally treated "Tom to a well-deserved dose of debauchery L.A.-style. Messr. Oppenheim, I believe, manages money for high net-worth individuals in Okie City and apparently plays a mean game of golf.

Let's see what else is happening in LaLa Land... Frank Falzetta works in downtown L.A. as an attorney and cuddles up with two-year-old daughter Claudia when he's not billing time to clients. Steve Quinn works as a mortgage banker and recently bought a Labrador puppy Paul Gignac is also a legal eagle; he and wife Renee are recent proud parents of Brittany Nicole. Tim Kidderworks for the L.A. Times and just got engaged. WadeWelch is also engaged and works at Deloitte & Touche, a "Big Six" (used to be "Big Eight" but times are a-changin') accounting firm. And, shifting our geographical focus, we also have learned that John Sontich is an orthopedist in Cleveland; Mark Bandeen (along with wife Jan '81, Brad, and Blair) has moved back to San Francisco; and John Asher is a partner in an engineering company located in Naples, Fla. Wow! A paragraph chock full of names.

Wes Savick had a busy summer high-lighted by his directing You Can't Take It WithYou at the Dartmouth Summer Repertory Theater. YCTIU'Y was the last play that he performed in as an undergraduate, and this was his first opportunity to direct it. Wes, as some of you may recall from earlier columns, is artistic director of Theater Xin Milwaukee.

Finally, this word from the Association for Women Geoscientists: Sharon Roth was awarded a Chrysalis Scholarship for her exemplary Work in geoscience. Sharon is a Ph.D. candidate in marine geology at Oregon State University (the Ducks!). One of her personal goals is "to work toward bridging the gap between sometimes esoteric geoscience and the general public's understanding of the state of the planet and how decisions we make influence its health." Amen to that!

Happy Holidays to all, and may 1993 bring good things to you.
