Dan Mayland and MikeLindgren wrote from Boston about what they've been doing this year. While this news may now be a little old, Dan was working at Chili's Bar & Grill in Copley Plaza, Boston, when I last heard from him. Mike is working for a publishing company in Cambridge.

Ute Bowman was married last month in Valparaiso, Ind., to Brian Otley '89. They will be living on Long Island, N.Y., where Ute is coaching varsity girls basketball and varsity volleyball at Jericho High School. She's also completing a master's in social studies education. Brian is an account executive for Versyss Medical Systems there.

I feel kind of bad about my treatment of Wes Wang in last April's column, where I said he was throwing parties all over New York to get into this column. So, as a way of making myself feel better, and at the same time being fair to Wes, I'm including a few more substantial details this month about what he's been up to. Wes reports he does "maintain a day job," which entails trading third world debt"talking to people I'll never meet and dealing in countries I'll never visit." He took advantage of President Bush's tax credit and became a homeowner at 81 st Street and Broadway in New York. So as not to appear too domesticated, Wes bought a racing motorcycle and uses it to commute to Wall Street.

Wes says Sam Burd has taken a temporary sabbatical from his consulting job to save baby harp seals from fur hunters, and DinoMauricio was recently engaged to a Dartmouth '93. The wedding is scheduled for next year.

And now for some news about a few '90s from Elise Saks. After working for Rep. Leon Panetta in Washington, D.C. for a year, JulieClugage headed off to Guatemala, where she works as a volunteer with Jesuits at a high school for Mayan Indians. Julie lives in a remote village that has no telephone service and is accessible only by water. She was awarded a Dartmouth General Grant for her work.

Cor Van Niel finished his first year at U-Penn Medical School and spent the summer in New Mexico working at a clinic for Native Americans. Anna Gado earned her Master's in art history at the University of Virginia and plans to return to the Northeast. Megan Ryan has returned to the States and is now working as a research assistant at the World Watch Institute, an environmental think-tank in Washington, D.C.

Now, as for Elise, she was all ready to attend U-Penn Law School, and was in the midst of looking for an apartment in Philadelphia, when she had a change of mind. She decided to defer admission and enrolled in pre-med courses in preparation for applying to medical school.

John Neville wrote in to say he's been working as a chef at a restaurant in Providence, R.I., where he's been living for the past year.

Euro Disney is where lan McFadzen is working these days, in the management trainee program at the Disneyland Hotel. He says the work force is internationally diverse, and he likes to hear the French employees at the Cheyenne Hotel say, "Howdy, folks!," to all the guests. "Somehow it doesn't come out right." We can only imagine, lan. He can be reached c/o M.Keller, 37 Ave. Louis Pasteur, 77186 Noisiel, France.

'90s who are making changes in their lives and careers this fall and classmates whose names have not yet appeared here should drop me a card or letter sometime soon. It's the best way to keep in touch with old friends.
