I begin with information which may be good or bad—your choice. This, and all future columns, will be limited to 350 words, down from Gene's 500. As new class columns are added (1993) older classes (1938), have to cut back on their verbiage.
Congratulations and best wishes to AshLans and Peggy Clancy on their marriage just prior to our 55th Reunion. Thanks for spending part of your honeymoon with us! (If there was ever a name to perfectly describe a young lady, it is Ash's Peggy Clancy!)
Blair Morrissey wrote Gene telling of a telephone visit he had with Lew Harriman in Buffalo on his way back to Ontario from the Reunion. Lew had just returned from a two-month visit with his son Fred '75 in japan and reports having had lunch with Sid Cardoza in Tokyo. Maybe Lew will let us know more of his visit and lunch with Sid?
I regret to report on the passing of AlWolffs wife, Adele, and Fran Worcester's wife, Nancy. On behalf of the class, I extend deepest sympathies to them as well as to the families of deceased classmates James E.Hastings, William T. Heydt, Scott F. Runkle, and Walter Averill.
Jack Mclntosh tells of a busy month of june attending six graduations of his grandchildren from high schools and colleges—Chicago to Indianapolis to Seattle. His bio in our 50th Reunion book says there were 19 grandchildren at that time. Are there more, Jack, and can anyone top this figure?
I talked with Jim Cooney's wife, Helen, to find out how they were coping with the "great flood of 1993" in Des Moines, lowa. Nothing major, only the lack of water for showering, etc. They solved this by spending time with their daughter on high ground. Jim kept nice and dry in his fifth-floor office. Robb and Win Kelley took to the high ground in Illinois during the height of the flood.
During this fall season let's get out there and cheer on "The Big Green Machine" in its quest for another Ivy League Title. See ya there!
I'll be back next month. Blessings!
