As you can see, this is a special issue of the magazine, "Dartmouth in Photos." The photo I have selected for our class was taken by RussTolles, our then "class photographer." It represents the installation of your tour director during a mini-reunion dinner at the then Sheraton Inn in Lebanon in the late forties. How many remember the event???

The idea was a brainstorm of Alice Lane,Ben's wife, who supplied the jacket. The tour director balked at first, but with the physical insistence of Robb Kelley, Gus Hennessey, and "Big" Ed White, he finally accepted the title and the responsibility that went with it.

Jack Russell sent me a clipping from a recent Yale Law Report telling of an activity Tel Mook and his wife, Jane, have been involved in.

By the way, Tel has split his work life—half lawyer, half minister, and 100 percent pro bono. They live in Benzie County, Mich, (bordering on the west edge of Lake Michigan), overlooking Crystal Lake. Because growth in his corner of Michigan has been topsy and slowly losing its character, Tel and Jane have TAKEN THE CHALLENGE of restoring their pristine area from degradation by starting "Citizens for Positive Planning." This citizen group has been holding public forums and informational meetings to correct the problem.

I never realized that we had such an elite group of lawyers who attended Yale Law School. Besides Jack and Tel, there is Hank Malloy,Howie Ray, BobReno, Bob Ross,Hal Berman, and Ash Lans. Okay, you Harvardians may speak up!!!!

Speaking of Ash Lans, he tells me that he has developed a case of muscular degeneration, which is an irreparable deteriora- tion of the eyes. "I can get around and I am getting used to the world with foggy eyes." I know I speak for the class, Ash, in wishing you well.

According to Gil Tanis, we should meet our Alumni Fund goal and Russ Tolles, our matching fund coordinator, asked me to remind you matchers to do your matching!

I regret reporting the death of BudDennen on January 10, 1999.

Forget not the mini-reunion.

Ben Lane accepts the title, respon sibility and jacket of the role of tour director.
