The mail has been slow, so I have been contacting classmates at random to renew friendships and exchange news. HughTaylor of Portland, Maine, operated a marina for some 16 years. Then, in 1978, he entered the investment business, and he is currently senior vice president for Prudential Securities, handling retail accounts. Hugh and Jean have four children—two sons and two daughters—and three granddaughters. All four of their children have professional careers: legal, investment banking, financial advising, and project management at die Mall of America. The Taylors recently traded their 36-foot Sabre for a 28-foot powerboat and are planning a cruise to the New York Financial District Marina this fall. They also enjoy traveling to the Caribbean and the West Coast. Hugh has stayed in touch with Pete Gulick, and the two families have taken vacations together.

Another classmate has spent his life enjoying the advantages of small-city middle America. Jack Welsh returned to Mansfield, Ohio, to take up the family news-agency business after Dartmouth, the air force, and several years with Jones and Laughlin Steel. Jack says that his son David has joined him in the business and is the third generation of the family to do so. As a result he can now back off a bit. And there is a chance that the tradition will continue as there is now a grandson in the family. Jack and Frances also have a daughter, Jane, who lives in Washington, D.C., and was recently married. Jack often sees Jim Wiggin, M.D., who also lives in Mansfield.

Living in my home town of Auburn, N.Y., are Dick Drake and wife Carol. Dick, who was originally from Syracuse, spent five years as a fighter pilot flying F 100s. He then received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School and worked in sales and marketing with ColgatePalmolive, Beechnut-Lifesavers, and the building-supply business. He now is a manufacturer's representative handling stair parts, sealants, and cultured marble fixtures which he sells to building-supply and millwork houses. Dick has three children from his first marriage: Kenneth, who works for the CIA; Erica, a graduate of the Sorbonne in Paris who is in travel; and Douglas, in the Washington area. When I talked with Dick, he and Carol were entertaining his 91 -year-old mother who was on her way from her summer home in the Thousand Islands to winter in Florida. Hope Dick has inherited those genes!

The latest news from Main Street in Hanover is that the Campion name is once again present in the form of Campion's Women's Shop. The store, managed by Dorothy Campion-Corcoran and her husband, Marty, is located in the Dartmouth Bank building at the corner of Lebanon Street.

Class Treasurer Ralph Sauter would appreciate your prompt response to his recently mailed class-dues notice. I would encourage you to consider contributing to the class funds as well. They provide education assistance to children of classmates and donations to College activities.
