I You all will be relieved to learn that I received enough news this month to spare you from my usual feeble effort at literary creativity. Just savor the thought: no sardonic observations about Bierman's belt length or Vieth's fortune.
On June 3 Martin Leamon was awarded the U.S. Army's Meritorious Service medal for his performance as chief of Inpatient Psychiatry at the 97th General Hospital in Frankfort, Germany. Martin's achievements included reorganizing the entire inpatient unit, enabling it to provide urgent care to the numerous Persian Gulf armed service members who were evacuated in the aftermath of Desert Storm. He also participated in suicide prevention training programs for U.S. Army trailers in Europe. Unbeknownst to many of us, Martin was twice deployed with the Stress Management Team for the purpose of hostage repatriation, and he participated with distinction in the repatriation of Terry Anderson. And, finally, he was closely involved with the Wiesbaden helicopter crash. Martin graduated from B.U. Medical School and Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. He is married to Susan Carol Palsa, a lawyer, and they have a son, Benjamin, who was born in March. Having left the service in July, Martin is now associated with the Spectrum Medical Group at the El Camino Hospital, Mountain view, Calif.
