Here appearing for the first time in our monthly column: a guest columnist. This month's guest is Howard Jones. His letter was edited a bit for space but is mostly intact and wonderfully welcome. Howard is living near Hartford, Conn., with wife Margaret and children Jason, Miranda, and Kelsey. He recently moved on from a lengthy stint with Andersen Consulting to become a managing consultant with Microsoft Consulting. Howard writes, "Margaret and I took Kelsey with us to the reunion and had a great time, but were disappointed with the low '84 turnout. It was fascinating to see so many classmates with spouses and even children and then think back to various and sundry dorm/frat antics and events. An interesting observation I had was that people looked better at this reunion than they did at our fifth. No, I was not drinking a lot, and my lens prescription is up to date. Go figure."

Luckily for me, Howard sees a few '84s on a regular basis and was willing to write about them for the column. "Todd Porter and wife Sue Williamson Porter (Wheaton '83) are living in Natick, Mass., and have just expanded the family with the addition of John Arthur. Todd is working as a VT in the analyst group at Massachusetts Financial Services. A word of caution for anyone having an opportunity to play golf with Todd: don't let him under handicap you if you are putting money on the game. His game has improved a lot in the last nine years. Joining Todd and me during our last round of golf together was Curtis Kemeny. Curtis and his wife, Gabrielle, live in Boston. Curtis's position with Boston Consulting Group is putting him in the running for the '84 with the most frequent-flier mileage, although Dale Perry could give him some stiff competition with all of his trips to Russia, where he has established an international business-consulting practice. If anyone would like to lease a used Russian nuclear submarine or buy socks by the thousands at under 20 cents a pair, Dale is the guy to contact. Until recently Dale was residing about ten miles from me, but at the reunion he indicated that he had become a Bedouin and wasn't sure where he would reside next. Rumor has it that he's landed in Washington, D.C. Maybe ScottLutender could confirm this. Scott is living just outside of D.C. where he works for an engineering firm which specializes in government contracts. Back to the Northeast folks, Garry Douglas and family recently relocated from N.Y.C. to Cape Cod, where Garry is doing a little of this and a little of that and calling it "Douglas Industries." So far this venture seems to be working, and Garry is in his element while engaged in his never-ending search for that great idea that will hit the jackpot." Garry and his wife, Jane, have two children, Ashley and Robert.

"I had been keeping in touch with StergLazos, but haven't connected with him lately. The last I had heard, Sterg had taken a teaching/administrative position at a private school near Princeton. Coinciding with his taking that position, his wife, Laura Abrahamson '85, had just been notified of an opportunity in Cleveland which was the dream-job chance of a life time. Maybe we can get an update on the Lazos saga for the next column. How about it Sterg?"

Would you like to be our next guest columnist? As your reward I'll track down and update you on some of your favorite Dartmouth classmates whom you've lost touch with. Next month I'll start with two people Howard asked about.
