Peg (Mrs. Franklin) Johnson in West Palm Beach sends news of a lovely new family member, a girl born in the summer to Susan and Merrill Jr. She also writes that her oldest grandchild has been very ill but is making a slow but sure recovery after a brain operation. Peg hopes that anyone belonging to a prayer group may put in the name of Dana Jones.
Ginny (Mrs. Edmund) Bowen writes: "Living all but two months in South Florida, I have very little contact with other members, but if and when anyone comes my way (1008 Rhodes Villa Lane, Delray Beach, FL 33483), I would love to hear from them." She returns to Newtonville, N.Y., for two summer months.
So great to hear from one of our surviving 1920 grads! Warren Turners letter, beautifully typed by son Warren, reports that he still has his cane minus the Indian's nose! His health remains stable except for deteriorating eyesight. His peaceful life at the Ward Homestead in Maplewood, N.H., is enlivened by contact with family members: son Jack '60, recently married, third venture; granddaughter Pamela, recent recipient of a doctorate in psychology from Columbia University; granddaughter Angie, traveling widely with Up With People; and grandchildren Cindi and Rich, parents of "outstanding" great-grandchildren Tim, Katie, and Jacquie.
A wonderful long letter from Kit Stevenson of Phoenix, daughter of our beloved Bill andLaura Carter, contains so much news and comment that I'll have to save it for a later column (or several). She also sent her parents' recording of Robert Frost reading his poems and one of Al Foley telling his priceless Vermont yarns. What a bonanza!
Warm greetings from a cold climate.
