Did you know that a member of our class ran for President? John Hagelin ran on the Natural Law Party line. I even caught one of his television commercials one night! Robert Bresticker, who received his B.A. in physics and also an M.B.A. from Tuck, is the author of American Manufacturing and Logistics in the Year 2001, published in August. It is his first book, written for senior and middle management of American manufacturing and logisitics firms. Bob is a senior member of Motorola's Corporate Manufacturing Systems staff and is, with others, responsible for accelerating the rate of change in Motorola's manufacturing operation. Motorola was the first corporate winner of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. Before joining Motorola in 1986, he worked for the accounting and consulting firm of Arthur Young & Co. and General Mills. Paul Fritzon was recently promoted to vice president of marketing for Hannaford Bros. Co. in Scarborough, Maine. Paul joined Hannaford, New England's largest food retailer, in 1978 after receiving his M.B.A. from Tuck.
I received a note from Cynthia M. Wolcott, who recently became the first woman to be named a partner in the firm of Palmieri, Tyler, Wiener, Wilhelm & Waldron, which specializes in real-estate law. Cynthia lives with her three-year-old daughter Molly and husband Jim Scott '69, in Mission Viejo, Calif.
Nicholas Jacobson '35 sent news of his daughter and our classmate, Nora Jacobson, who lives in Hoboken, N.J. Nora's documentary film, "Delivered Vacant," which she produced, directed, narrated, and filmed, was shown at the New York Film Festival in October. Beginning in late 1984, the film follows the transformation of Hoboken from a multiethnic, working-class community into a gentrified haven for (in the words of one review) "Manhattan-based yuppies seeking lower rents and less stress." Described as something of an "urban epic" in the New York Times review, the film also received an excellent review (3.5 stars) in Newsday, another major New York metropolitan newspaper. Way to go, Nora!
It looks like Charles Potts will be moving from Dallas, Texas, to Indiana. Charles was recently named as the new director of the Hulman Memorial Student Union at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. This is not your average student center we're talking about a$13 -million, nine-story complex which includes offices, multi-purpose rooms, and an attached retail mall and food court! Charlie received his master's in education administration from Marquette in 1985 and was associate director of the student union complex at Southern Methodist University for six years.
Karen Turner recently joined the faculty at Temple University as an assistant professor in the School of Communications and Theater's department of radio and television film. Karen was formerly the press secretary to Philadelphia mayor Edward Randell, and this summer she completed a three-year term as a national president of the Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association. Karen has extensive experience in journalism and earned her master's from Columbia, following a career in the legal field (she also holds a law degree from Northwestern). She lives in South Jersey with her seven-year-old collie, Sancho.
