As promised, I'll try to summarize the Carter family news from the wonderfully long October letter sent by Kit Stevenson, laughter of Laura and Bill Carter. Kit and husband Douglas Stevenson '49, having moved 15 times in their first 20 years, have been happily settled in Phoenix for the past 15, and Laura and Bill enjoyed their last years there.
At the time of Kit's letter, brother Doug Carter and wife Terry were cruising along the inland passageway to Alaska. The couple met en route to Alaska 42 years ago when Doug had just started with the U.S. Geological Survey. Their family includes four children and seven grandchildren. The Stevensons' daughter Holly, her husband, Jerry, and 13-year-old Richard live in southern Oregon, and AT&T's Reach Out America plan "really gets a workout." Kit and her Doug are engaged in "a labor of love" involving computers, which they hope will someday be fruitful. For a change of scene they enjoy the great state of Arizona with their tent trailer. It would be fine if others followed Kit's example and sent 1920 family news!
Age and "frequent infirmities" are catching up with your correspondent.
I have received notice of the passing of Lloyd Van Fleet Young and Franklin N.Corbin Jr. Obituaries in a later issue.
