65 When you receive this column of Class Notes, the elections of 1992 will be on the minds of many. Last April Weaver Gaines resigned his position as executive vice president and general counsel of the Mutual Life Insurance Co. of New York so that he could be more deeply involved in the Bush-Quayle re-election campaign. He is traveling extensively as the November date of decision approaches.

About one year ago, this column inquired about the exploits of Don Hart. The mail takes a while to get to Burundi, but Don is an avid reader of the Alumni Magazine, and he has been a great correspondent over the years. He read. He wrote. Don is a senior consultant with LABAT-Anderson Inc., and he has been seconded to USAID/Burundi since 1989, serving as a private enterprise officer. Don says, "Burundi is a beautiful, calm country of central Africa, and with my family I enjoy probably the nicest all-around circumstances in which I have ever lived and worked. I have four children, ages 4,13,16, and 19.Myhome residence is in Brazil, and I still maintain in beautiful shape the farm/ranch which I built up between 1974 and 1982, when the educational needs of my children obliged me to return to professional employment. We welcome visitors to Burundi."

The 1992 Alumni Fund is over and there are several highlights to report. Head Agent Ted Bracken is pleased about the fact that our participation was up over 58 percent as we donated more than $150,000 to the Alumni Fund. Ted is especially appreciative for the efforts turned in by Larry Mages, the leadership chairman, Rich Beams and MarshWallach, die fraternity coordinators, and JimGriffiths, the man in charge of getting the participation numbers up so high. On behalf of Ted and the rest of the class of '65, thanks to the leaders, the other agents, and all of you who made contributions this year.

While I was on the phone with Ted, I got some news about other classmates. Here is "The Bracken Report": Pete Frederick is back from Seoul, Korea, and he is studying French in the Washington, D.C., area, preparing for his next move to Paris. Peter, Marsha, and the rest of the Frederick family summered on the Delaware shore. PeterSapione is in Hong Kong working as the head of Far East operations for Banker's Trust N.Y. Corp. Bob Abrams has a daughter at Dartmouth who, by coincidence, will room with Ted's daughter.

The class of '65 annual mini-reunion is scheduled for the Yale weekend this month, October 16-18. We hope to see many of you there this year.

I am almost out of information for future columns of Class Notes. I need some facts or gossip. Let us hear from you, Marc Efiron, JimKingsdale, Andy Rowles, John Smith,Norm Christianson, and John Fyler. As for the rest of you, if your name has not appeared in this column, there are several people wondering what you are doing. Your 50th birthday is near. Let us know what life has brought for you so far. In the meantime, take care of yourself and everyone who is important to you.
