At the Class Officers Weekend held May 7-8, our class was well represented by nine officers and seven wives out of a total of 336 officers from all classes, 157 spouses, and 19 guests. All events were well organized and, as usual, the classes and meetings were most informative. One workshop designed to develop .effective class-officer teams was somewhat out of the ordinary. After a slide presentation each class team was asked to solve a structural-engineering problem: use flimsy rectangular cards and masking tape to build a structure which would hold a heavy board at least 18 inches above the table for at least one minute. In our case the problem would probably have been quickly solved by any one of our grandchildren. However, we managed to disregard all of the rules and still failed to come even close to a solution. On a scale of one to five (one being low) in four separate categories, we scored somewhere between zero and minus five in each. Obviously, your class officers are not ready to be organized as a team no matter how effective each maybe in his particular job.

Throughout the many joint presentations by faculty and students we were constantly reminded of the high intellectual quality of the students and their ability to take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered by the College. Particularly impressive was the broad range of activities sponsored by the Athletic Department and the high academic achievement attained by many participants in sports. What a wonderful way to prepare, mentally and physically, to cope with the problems which lie ahead after graduation.

Your group consisted of Yank Price, Betty and Dick Hube, Lois and Bob McLellan, Louise and Put Kingsbury, Jane and John Todd, Jean and Al Brush, Helen and John Wallace, Florrie and Bill Fitzhugh, and your class secretary.

Recently Helen and Rudy Pacht had a delightful dinner with Marian and Jim Berkey, who were celebrating their 50th. Rudy suggests that Marian would make a worthy successor to your scribe. That might be a great idea as the job is up for grabs at any time.
