An apology to Pete Brown is in order. In a previous column I inferred that he might be moving to Florida, but I should have known that he has lived in the Bradenton area for 36 years and still finds that his career is dominating his time.
Had a nice note from Bud Hughes. After 42 years at Lord Abbett & Cos., he retired on September 30, 1992. He and June planned to spend most of the year at Harbour Ridge in Florida with many other wearers of the Green who live there, and then some summer months in Sea Girt, NJ. In trying to help organize the Greenlefe resort mini. Bud found that Johnny Loveland lived nearby. So he and Johnny had a getting-caught-up lunch together.
Bud and Punchy will soon be working together again on out next big reunion, the 45 th, to be held next June 16-19 in Hanover. Bud will be the chairman and Punchy the treasurer, and you who have attended past gatherings know they do a super job. The big event is less than 12 months away now, and since everyone leads busy lives you should begin planning attendance and put this on your "94 calendar.
The fall gathering in Hanover is October 8-10. This should be a good time to enjoy the fall colors and weather in New Hampshire.
Leigh and I couldn't attend the Florida gathering since we were scheduled to be on a charter in the British Virgins, but illness prevented us from doing either. It is my understanding that another Florida gathering will be attempted, but with more notice to all who would like to escape the cold North, as well as those in Florida who would like to attend. Since I wasn't there I have asked Deke Jackson to report back on this first attempt at a mid-winter event away from Hanover.
Our classmate Henry H. Williams Jr. is involved in a third career as director of finance and administration at the new $5-million Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass. This museum will house the largest collection of Rockwell art, with over 500 original paintings, drawings, and illustrations. Do any of you remember the Saturday Evening Post covers?
