In May each year the College runs Class Officers Weekend, This year was my first, providing another excuse to visit Hanover. Eleven of your class officers showed up and were among about 500 officers and wives who attended a dinner, presentations, workshops, and meetings. It was a very special treat to have Ruth and Joel Leavitt with us for the weekend.

Here's news for those who have joined the computer revolution. The Alumni .Magazine editors have set up a special e-mail account (address: ). If you are "on the net" you can zap news about your-self and classmates to the Hanover folks, and they will print it out and send it to me. Think about it.

Helpful line to use on your grandchildren: "Which part of the word NO is it that you do not understand?"

In case you missed it, dig out your copy of the April issue of the Alumni Magazine and read Bill Stark's article. It's a rollicking account of his experiences on ocean-going ships during his years as an undergrad, including one trip on a sailing bark that rounded Cape Horn.

A repeat of the invitation I made several months ago: Let me know if you want the current addresses of any classmates. With our 45th Reunion coming next June, it would be a good time to get in touch.

Jim and Bobbie Birney reported in. They were off to Salem, Ore., for a friend's wedding and then were going on a tour to Vancouver, Victoria, and the Canadian Rockies. They were due back to their summer place at East Otis in the Berkshires around the 4th of July.

Alumni Records Office sends word of die loss of two more classmates. We send our sympathies to the families and friends of Jim Austin, who died of cancer in March of 1992, and Charlie Hamilton, who passed away in January of this year.

The College's clipping service brings the news that Gene Hotchkiss retired after 23 years as president of Lake Forest (I11.) College. He and Sue will be living in nearby Lake Bluff. I had a brief look at Lee Sarokin on C-Span one evening in May. He appeared in his role of chairman of the Federal Judges Association at their third annual conference.

I've had no feedback on my earlier suggestion that we schedule a time for fraternity- reunions during our 45th next June. I still think it's a good idea, a chance to get together with guys from the classes of'48 and '49 whom you might miss otherwise.

Guys I'd really like to hear from: Bob Wilson (both of them), Jim Bailey, Dick Milligan,Clarke Basset.

That's it until September. Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Mini-reunion: Hanover, October 29-31.
