It's hard to believe the autumn leaves are starting to fall. Another fall mini- reunion is upon us, October 14-16: Homecoming Weekend, Dartmouth Night, and football vs. Yale. I hope we see some new faces, especially since many of you rediscovered at the June 45 th Reunion how much fun Hanover and old friends can be.
There will be the usual pre-game tailgate party in the parking lot next to Thompson Arena, the hockey rink. That's true also of the other remaining home football games: Harvard on October 29, and Columbia on November 5.
Getting back to the subject of our 45th in June, Tig and I just received Tom McCabe's tapes of the '48-'49-'50 Glee Club concert and the Jack English-Lee Sarokin rendition of 1940s songs. Both tapes are fabulous! If you've put off ordering one or both, don't wait any longer. Order for $10 each from Tom McCabe, Box 518, South Meadow Road, Corinth, VT 05039. If you're into nostalgia, or just plain love good music, these are hard to beat.
Had a nice note from Roberta Jordan, Bob's widow, about a 40-year retrospective of his art work to be hung in North Conway this fall. As many of you know, Bob was a professor of art and also a highly regarded painter of landscapes. For more information, call Roberta at (603) 447-2869.
A few issues ago I quipped that the editors of this magazine just don't get it (i.e., for failing to recognize that Dartmouth's "gifts to the world" were the members of the class of '50). In an effort to get back in their good graces, I want to make sure you know that this magazine is DAM good. It won three gold medals from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education: for the best general-interest college magazine in the country, a feature article, and one specific issue. If you tend to read only this column, and maybe the obits, take a few minutes this month and read some of the other stuff. You'll be glad you did.
I end with my usual plaintive plea for NEWS. I need it to fill this space every month and, much more important, somebody out there wants to hear what's with you.
