First off, have you mailed your bio sketch and picture to Joe Medlicott for the 50th Reunion book? If not, do it NOW. Time is almost up. In last month's issue I promised a detailed day-by-day account of the Kent family week-long reunion held in July at a lodge in Damariscotta, Maine. I'll spare you that, but will say we had a ball!! There were 25 of us and we took over a lakeside conference center lodge that had been recommended by Karen and Dave Taylor. If you're thinking of celebrating a 50th anniversary or something similar, I can't think of a better place. Let me know if you want info.
Fall is upon us and this year's minireunion will be on the weekend of Oct. 2224. Len Matless and Dave Taylor, co-chairs of minis, have planned another fun one, and there's still time to get your reservation in if you do it today. Give Len a call at (603) 6435391. Also, think about coming on up for the February mini on the 11th-13th.
I had a call from high school pal Bob Tredwell, who reported that he and Helen had just returned from another swell Alumni College week in Hanover, this one on Asia. A bunch of '50s attended that course or sifty Joe's one on writing techniques. On hand were Jim Vail and Peggy, Dick Udall, Kim Swezey, and Mai Decker. The latter organized and hosted a convivial luncheon at the Hanover Inn for the classmates, a kind of mini-reunion.
My Error. The September issue of DAM had a quote attributed to Howie West, which there ain't none of in our class. It was Howie Weston who pointed out that today at Dartmouth you're in serious trouble if you don't have females overnight in the dorms and fraternities, and he added, "Even more mystifying is the reaction of the current brothers as they seem distressed by this new policy."
If you are into checking mastheads, you'll have noticed that we have a new editor, Sean Plottner. We welcome him and know he will do a great job in continuing to keep DAM one of the best alumni magazines in the country. Nevertheless, we secretaries are sorry the College administration opted to go outside and passed over Jim Collins '84. Jim had been acting editor for many months and, we believe, had done a superb job in maintaining and enhancing the quality of all the facets of this magazine.
