As I recall from my French comparative literature course, Marcel Proust espoused true happiness as the remembrance of things past. Perhaps. But there is no joy or help this month since the mail bag was empty and my desperate telephone calls were not successful in reaching classmates for news.

On a personal note of happiness, Pat and I are now exhilarated grandparents for the first time. Our daughter Penelope gave birth to James Alexander Lazor on September 6! My son James Andrew McKean '9l and I headed off to visit the new arrival and the proud parents in Maryland. After a short stop over in the D.C. area we headed to Pittsburgh to spend a very pleasant evening reminiscing with Brian Wolfe '93 and family. Later we were to be recipients of further Dartmouth hospitality when we made contact with John Henry 111 '6l in Oklahoma City. Better planning and perhaps a '62 class list by city would have offered the opportunity to visit '62 s on our way. Perhaps on our next trip.

I can report that Kent Hutchison is receiving more good news from classmates planning to attend our "55 in '95" celebration in San Francisco. I have just received information from Amtrak to start planning for a possible class train trip originating in Denver. More info to come.
