Fortieth Reunion President Jerry Goldstein wrote the following in a letter to all of you in September: "Our whole focus is on renewal of old friendships an opportunity to make new friends, a chance to witness the greatness that is the current Dartmouth and mostly a special occasion for mutual enrichment." Be there!

Betty and George McLaughlin were at their 40th Dartmouth-Harvard game late in October. Who else was in Hanover for Dartmouth Night Weekend? Jim Adams, Bob Adnopoz, Dick Barker, Pete Barker, Bryce Bastian, Don Berlin, Bob Berry, Sam Bradley, Pete Bullis, Phil Christophe, Bob Clark, Dick Danforth, Clark Davis, Bob Dean, John Gillespie, Jerry Goldstein, Lyon Greenberg, Bill Grover, Pete Gunas, Pete Gutlon, Rick Hartman, Herb Hillman, Mas Itabashi, Ron Jabara, Don Keller, Pete Kenyon, Kirk Kirkpatrick, Dick Kolbe, Dick Leary, Dick Lewis, George McLaughlin, Bruce Maclvor, Dave Mandelbaum, Steve Mullins, Dick Page, Joel Poor-man, John Pope, Hugh Roberts, Harry Robinson, Tom Sayles, and Bill White. If I missed anyone, please let me know, and you will get a whole paragraph in a future column.

On the following Saturday, Phyllis and I joined a small contingent of the faithful at Baker Field, New York City, to watch the Big Green defeat Columbia 42-27. The rather modest crowd included Bryce Bastian, DickDavidoff, Jerry Goldstein, and Frank Weiser wearing his freshman beanie, which he claims was down-sized in the wash.

Phyllis and I and our daughter Genee enjoyed a delightful evening with Ralph Destino at the National Arts Club in November. A standing-room-only audience was present in the club's grand gallery to watch and listen to Ralph present the third lecture in a series on Art Deco: "Louis Carrier and the Art Deco Movement." He obviously enjoys his position as chairman of Carrier Inc. and his role as ambassador.

Roger Gilmore served as one of the three judges at the 37th annual art show given by the Kennebunk River Club in Kennebunkport, Maine, last August. As reported earlier, Roger has been president of the Maine College of Art since 1989 and is a former director of the commission on accreditation and president of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

John Steel called in October to alert us to the fact that he intends to run for Congress from the 49th Congressional District. His campaign staff is in place at P.O. Box 19207, San Diego, CA 92159, and can be reached at (619) 491-5323 .John married Suella Bowden about a year ago. Some of you may remember meeting her with John at Dartmouth Night a couple of years ago. Suella is a national tennis champion, and I would guess she has no trouble keeping up with John.

We don't hear much from New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bill Walls, but DonBerlin informs us that Bill moved to the Civil Division of the Essex County Superior Court (Newark, N.J.) in june 1993, and, effective january, was designated presiding judge. Bill was first appointed to the Essex County Court in 1977 and elevated to Superior Court in 1978.
