Season's greetings were received from Charlie Hill, looking snappy while getting ready to step into his motorboat, his spinning rod at the ready. From Ruth Slaughter, enclosing a raft of photocopies illustrating her travels last year from Italy to Alaska, her 60th at Wellesley, and her granddaugh ter Sarah '82. From Ellen and John Chamberlin with 16 lines of excellent poetry (by whom?). From Art Spiegel who, in a previous letter, wrote that he is still active in business and community service, recently in a fundraiser for the New Mexico Council on Crime and Delinquency, which he helped start in 1962. From Mildred and Bob Powell reporting that the moisture provided by the heavy snowfall in January 1993 in Reno and evirons carried them through 107 sunny, pleasant days without a trace of rain last summer. From Alan Bucher, enclosing the index listing 35 chapters of his The Art of Fingering for Pianists and Organists, just published. (Those chapters resulted from 50 years of teaching, concertizing, composing, and study. His card carried a beautiful photo of Wild River and a note that he was celebrating the publication.) From Jean Davis, heading for her regular stay in Manzanillo after a three-week trip to England, Scotland, and Wales in September, but concerned that it may be her last because she's uncertain about the availability of future accommodations. From Libby and VanceDickerman enclosing a letter from Vance listing his gardening duties for next spring, which will be the tending of 36 rose bushes, three tomato plants, and four trees bearing, respectively, navel and Valencia oranges, grapefruit, and avocados (such duties last year having sent his golf game to the nether regions). And from Lucy Cogswell, whom I had found in good spirits during a visit just before the Princeton game.

Also received was a note from Si Leach's children, Gus '60, Larry, Norm, and Linda thanking the class for its thoughtfulness in remembering their father.

Although a near-victim of hypothermia because of sitting through that unforgettable Princeton game, I wish all of you had been there too. So how about the Penn-game mini September 24?
