Our class officers who could attend had their own meeting during the Class Officers Weekend in May. Ed Flanders was delayed by a visit to his doctor because of an aneurysm, so the meeting was postponed a day. With proxies given to Ed byJackZellers and Lane Dwinell, and with the presence of Laura Sadler, Bill Ballard,Rachel and Jerry Sass, as well as Dora and Ed Flanders, a quorum was attained. CurlyProsser could not attend because he was (temporarily, we hope) in the extended care section of Kendal at Hanover. The principal business of the meeting was to confirm the recommendation that the class proceed with its endorsement of the Koop Institute. The treasurer's report, indicating that we were still afloat financially, was approved. Also, it was emphasized that only the income from endowment funds, not the principal, should be used for class scholarships. Incidentally, a letter from the Office of Financial Aid informs us of the accomplishments of past scholarship recipients and the names of five new scholars replacing graduates. Space does not permit farther details at this time.
Gremlins in my typewriter (I never make a mistake, of course), some misinformation received, and a printer's error have resulted in some inaccuracies in obituaries recently. Wes McSorley was a Sigma Phi Epsilon (not Sigma Alpha Epsilon) and was a member of the Food Service Consulting Society (not Ford). Also his death was after a brief (not long) illness. Finally, he entered Dartmouth from Holderness School. Also, unaccountably, Edmund Abbott's name appeared as Edwin. My apologies to all concerned.
I regret to report the deaths of Ken Rice on March 18 and Nick Carter on April 13.
