Vance Clark, back from a European tour on May 26, writes: "My friends and I, making four people, went to Paris first, then on a wonderful barge trip, eastward from Paris on the Marne River and associated canals in the lands east of Paris, where there was heavy fighting in World War I. It also is the area of champagne, with enormous grape-growing fields and Moet & Chandon wineries, orchards we visited. A week of this on a lovely barge—12 guests and a staff of seven. Delightful, if a bit small, were the living quarters. Then on to London for dinners, two theaters, and out a bit to see many castles and wonderful gardens, full of beautiful flowers. It was great!"
