William Plumer Fowler writes, "Today I have reached my 92nd birthday and like most nonagenarians have slowed down to the point of living day by day. I'm managing to keep this household running with the aid of a secretary to compensate for my blindness and superannuation. I am fortunate in having two daughters living within a four-mile radius who so far have been able to take me out to lunch daily. I have recendy sold 48 copies of my book Shakespeare Revealed In Oxford'sLetters at the wholesale rate of $15 each, post paid. I can be contacted at my North Hampton, N.H., address. I am blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and six and a quarter great-grandchildren as my contribution to posterity.
On August 2 Arthur and Dorothy Gilbert enjoyed the 18th annual "Beanhole" party in Dorset, Vt., with 50 family members and friends. This event featured the method of baking beans which Ross McKenney taught many Dartmouth students, including the Gilberts' nephew Neal Gilbert '48 while he served on the Outing Club's summer crew in the College Grant in 1947. The method still works!
Anne Birner, accountant to Furber Haight, writes, "Furber Haight is in poor health, yet at times will still light up to the word 'Dartmouth.'"
Doris Campbell writes, "I'm here (West Newton, Mass.) for the summer except long weekends in Maine over July 4 and Labor Day with my brother, his wonderful daughter, her super husband, and two adorable daughters."
