I recently had the opportunity to speak with Charles "Cap" Palmer. Cap continues to live in Los Angeles and has been doing well. He notes that his father was an honorary class of '01 at the College, he had two brothers who were classes of '29 and '41, and his son-in-law is class of '53. We talked a little bit about the Boston area because of some common connections, and he told me that he initially started as a Boston Herald reporter, eventually finding his way into the building-material business. The Depression forced him to seek his fortune elsewhere, and he and his wife, Marion, went to California in the early thirties. He had several short "funny love stories" accepted by various magazines, and he subsequently began writing screenplays, which became his life's work. He is responsible for the screenplay of Lady and the Tramp. He continues to be as active as he can, but no longer takes his seat at the Academy Awards presentation.

I received a letter from Mrs. Truman"Bill" Metzel, who wanted to be remembered to all of the class of '23. She mentioned that Bill's home in Chicago is the new home to the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

Please send along any information that you wish to share with the other members of the Dartmouth community.

Until next time, '23 Skiddoo.
