What a strange feeling it was to drop off my youngest son in Hanover to start his freshman year! Some of the things caused such deja vu, with just a bit of role reversal. Other striking changes on campus kept bringing me back from my memories of the dark ages. I had some idea why he was in such a hurry for me to help unload his things, shore up his finances, and leave. But it seemed a bit foreign to realize that the dormmates he was so anxious to get upstairs to meet were some very attractive girls from California. His stories about the wonderful time he had on the DOC orientation brought back happy memories. And listening to his anguish over all his course options, I was very impressed by the new core of curricular requirements. It's all enough to make me wish I could do it all over again.

My news this month all comes from media reports on our classmates. The Georgia press announced the appointment of Craig Kerins to the board of directors of the Walton Rehabilitation Hospital. Craig's accomplishments could fill the entire column. Among other things, he has served as chairman of the surgery department, chief of medical staff, and chairman of the credentials committee at St. Francis Hospital in Augusta, where he is a life trustee. He has been chairman of the Augusta Physician's Association, and he is a partner in the Augusta Orthopedic Clinic.

Another busy person receiving press coverage for his community service is Eric Joh. Erik has just been elected to the American Red Cross Board of Governors after 2 5 years of voluntary work with the organization, including service as Florida state chairman. In addition to being of counsel to the New York firm of Hinman, Howard, and Lattell, for which he opened the Florida branch, Erik practices law in his own firm in Boynton Beach. He is also president of Boston-based Continental Corp.

I think I want to be Sam Ostrow when I grow up. A recent Westchester paper featured Sam under the headline, "Enjoying a Simpler Life." It seems Sam has seen the light, and after his years of stress as the president and CEO for United States affairs at the Rowland Cos., among many other achievements, he has founded Ostrow and Partners, a communications firm in Stamford, near his home. The article really was a profile of the things Sam will now have more time to enjoy—Judy, the kids, their wonderful 1720 house. And then there was the full-page picture of Sam in his wine cellar with the caption, "Sam Ostrow enjoys collecting vintage wines and playing golf when he's not helping his newly formed public relations firm." Way to go Sam.

Send me your news.
