Our professional news this month comes from Upstate New York, where DavidBrooks has been recognized by the American Institute of Certified Planners. After serving in city government as the environmental services planner for the city of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Dave has devoted himself to Clos Luce, a planning and information consulting firm which he owns.

This month’s mail also brought a great pic- ture of Jeff Richardson sitting on top ofMount Whitney (the tallest mountain in the continental U.S.). Inspired at reunion by hearing about Ned Gilette’s feats and Don Klein’s attempts to surpass them, Jeff set off on a trip that took him from Mt. Whitney to Anchorage and a climb up Flat Top Mountain, and then on to Mt. McKinley. Jeff says that at 48 he can still fit into the same size shoe he wore in college and wonders how many others can do the same. I was glad to hear that Jeff is interested in helping to organize a 50th birthday party on the West Coast. If any others out there would join him, please let Bill Bogardus know.

From your latest letter from Jeff Zim-merman, you know that he and Pamm are back in Bowie, Md., though it sounds as if they are spending a lot of time (and resources) up in Vermont rehabbing their farmhouse. Let’s help him spend his time on important things like heating systems—return the annual dues without any further reminders. I recently talked with undergrads in Hanover, and from them I learned how much field placements like those in the Environmental Studies Pro- gram, which we help sponsor with our con- tributions, mean. Our first sponsored student completed her soil project in New Mexico. So let’s keep the checks coming to Jeff.

Send me your news.
