I can almost feel winter descending upon Hanover, and even though I'm thankful that I'm 200 miles south (even in Boston, winters aren't quite as bad), I miss the cozy comfort of the Tower Room and 5 Olde.
Anne Wilson just finished a stint in Sun Valley as a whitewater rafting guide, I think. She may have just finished leading a student trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, or she may have just finished tutoring science to Mexican children, or she may have left those (yawn) jobs to return to the rough life of a ski bum.
Amy Burroughs moved to Boston this fall to attend Harvard Business School. She had been working at Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati. This summer she went to Malaysia and then met Julis Clarkson (who works in Boston at CDI) for two weeks in China. They were hoping to bump into Krista Klein—who led a student trip to China—near Shanghai. Amy reports that Jessica Lynn finished her first year at Fordham Law and spent the summer working with a federal judge in New York. Sam Schnee attended Radcliffe's publishing program over the summer. Nathalie Hester and Carolyn Gleason lived together in Chicago last year while attending the University of Chicago. Returning from two years in West Africa with the Peace Corps, Anne Connally will be at Columbia University this year pursuing a master's degree.
Bill Lehan writes from San Francisco, where he is attending the California College of Arts and Crafts with a major in graphic design. Bill said that he saw JohnOhe last spring and John works in health care management in New York City.
Erika Hall also writes from San Francisco, where she works as product marketing manager for a division of the publisher IDG (which publishes Mac World and PCWorld, among other magazines). Erika laments spending far too much time in front of her computer—she develops pages for the World Wide Web and spends a large chunk of her day checking out other pages—but is lucky enough to wear jeans to work. She hopes to publish a WWW page for Alpha Thetians, so keep your eye out. Erika hangs out with MattWilliams, who works in the multimedia division of Oracle and travels to Yosemite and Italy, and Eric "Fish" Towns, who works in Apple's quality assurance department. Erika reports that Becky Johnson, after moving from L.A. to Oklahoma City, decided to go to business school at the University of Colorado at Boulder. RicCrabbe is working toward a Ph.D. in computer science at UCLA. Dave Marino is working on the Coffee Exchange (whatever that is) in New York City.
Carolan Magnoli sent me another update, but since she's still a Yankees fan, I'm not going to mention what she's doing. Maybe next year, Carolan.
A press release from Columbia Law School states that Terrence Shen and BillSushon received their law degrees last spring. Neither has taken this opportunity to escape the Big Apple, however; Terrence will be working for Cravath, Swaine & Moore, while Bill will work for Skadden, Arps (I don't have enough room in the column for their full name). Speaking of law schools, Brian Ellner graduated from that place in Cambridge and has returned to New York to work for White & Case. In the fall of 1996 he will start a clerkship with Justice Alan Handler of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Kenta Takamori writes from Tokyo, where he has joined Goldman Sachs' associate training program. He will be an institutional salesman for them in Tokyo, selling Japanese equities to U.S. funds. Work should also take him to New York and London, while visits to his parents will take him to Washington state. Sounds like permanent jet lag.
Take care and keep in touch!
