My wife, Betsy, and I spent a few weeks on Sanibel Island off southwest Florida a while ago. While there I was able to contact a few of our classmates. Burrows Barstow in St. Petersburg advises that his wife, Katie, successfully survived knee surgery, and they are off to France and Spain. Frank andVera Lallande in Longwood send regards to all. Joe Hirshberg in Coral Gables, emeritus of U. of Miami, retains his lab and office and continues his research. George Lowden on Sanibel says he plays golf with Dale Ruedig We had an enjoyable visit with Dale and his wife, Nancy, who told us they spend half the year on Sanible and the other half at Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. Their grandson is presently an undergraduate at Dartmouth.

Gentlemen, the news is sparse indeed, and I invite you to share news of your life and times with us. When you think about it you appreciate that your news, when shared in these pages, makes up the thread that binds us together.

To close on a sad note, we learned of the death of Fred Richardson in Naples, Fla., last December.
