If this month's column is a bit zany, lay it to a stretch (and I do mean "stretch") in a Manhattan hospital for one of those "removals" which "grow up" in the human body for no apparent reason. No complications and your scribe is back in circulation with no loss (other than said "removal") beyond a couple weeks of this good life.

Virginia Granger, in a belated card, reports "Speed" had a couple of hospital sessions which, though they slowed him up a bit haven't kept him from maintaining a "growing" medical practice "which worries her sick." You can't keep a good man down for long!

Sid Crawford says he's joined Jack Benny in celebrating his 39th birthday, won't need a wheel chair or cane for a while feasting his eyes on bikinis, and reports that "Old Hickory" with salt water chaser is better than Geritol. Sid reports that Max Wilcox has sold his Maine home, in favor of a highrise apartment, and was presently down in Daytona, Fla., for the winter.

Eben Clough reports' they again ran into Marion Huntress and daughter at a local tea-room and they both "looked special." They then ran into Chan and Dot Foster, the former on his way to a partnership meeting in Houston, Texas, and Dot about to make Bermuda for a "twist of whist" tournament. Chan was also scheduled to attend the formal opening of the new Hanover Inn. Eben further reports an encouraging card from the Tom Connellys and a warning from Dick MacAllyster '14 (an old "flame" of Margy's) to treat Margy well or the 1915 column would be referring to "the late Eben Clough." News from Eben is always enervating!

Zeke Carpenter, acknowledging a birthday card, says: "¾ Century sounds like a lot o' years."

Bob Griffin, hinting at a possible hospitalization, remarked that it might coincide with mine. Hope it was as successful!

"Pete" Pray celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary on December 27 with quite a party - some 50-odd guests on hand. They must have hired an auditorium!

Tony Simoneau, down on Isle of Palms, S.C., says he continued swimming into December — until January brought a spell which froze up his bird bath.

Jack Burbank reports all well down at Marstons Mills, Cape Cod, with plenty to keep him busy with the Town Planning Board in preparation for Town Meeting, March 5.

Paul Rothery, labeling himself as the "world's worst correspondent" returned to Wilbraham, Mass., late in January after "one of the most enjoyable summers I've ever experienced" at Naples, Fla. He saw Ray King last fall and reports him in good spirits and expecting to put in a little time at his office before long. Paul was hoping to sell his Wilbraham home - "as owning two homes is for the birds, or the boys in the upper brackets." He gave up being active in his business a couple years ago, turning it over to their two sons "who are doing a better job than their old man." Paul says "the plumbing is working real well after several operations - these surgeons really do a swell job and I never felt better in my life." To which this scribe can say "Amen"!

Fletch Low has done such a good job in the Job Corps Camp at Tremont, Tenn., as a VISTA volunteer that he gets an honorable able mention in the November 16, 1967 House Record - pages H15473-4. His is a real dedicated job!

With which, we reluctantly call attention to various and sundry forms that pop up this time of year to keep this country of ours solvent - headed by the well-known Form 1040. Don't cheat - but here's to some happy returns!

Peg and Cliff Bean '16 recently reachedthat half -century, golden wedding mark.
