The Rhine, Mainz, Danube boat trip was great! On return to Cape Cod an article in the local bugle quoted Bud Miskell regarding a bad guy who tried to burn the town of Falmouth about 35 years ago. Thanks to a favorable wind, the town and the Wood Lumber Co. (Miskell-owned) escaped serious damage. Bud also sent me a newspaper clipping noting that Stan Priddy with his brother Alan in 1945 won for the third time the coveted Gifford Yacht Racing Trophy. Much more recently Bud took a spill while engaged in his favorite activity—bike riding. He still plays tennis and keeps in touch with Doc Fielding, who continues to perform on occasion. Bob Ehinger sent a news clipping about Ren Grevatt, a writer for Billboard for many years and who covered the worlds of pop and jazz for 50-plus years. The article noted that if it happened in the last half century, Ron Grevatt was there. Don McCorkindale, who was incapacitated earlier this summer following a bad spill, is doing okay and mentioned that he occasionally hears from Henry Keck, who remains active in the business world on the West Coast. A year or so ago Don had a visit from Bill Maeck's daughter, Sandy, who, incidentally, is Dartmouth '75. Bill continues to live in the Phoenix area. Howie Leavitt forwarded a note from Charlie Cusack that included an obit of Bob Purdy, who died in June of lung cancer at his home in Rancho Murieta. His wife, Ginny, described her husband "as someone who was always interested in everything and everybody." Another recent death to report: Herb Harrigan, who died in June at his North Carolina home. Hex, a newsman par excellence, will be remembered for both his wit and attire. Our condolences to the families. Kudos to Big Donaldson for his class fundraising achievements! When I called Bob Field recently he greeted me with,"I bet you're looking for news for the column?" When I said yuh, Bob in his laconic way said: "It's been hot in Hanover." Stay well!
