Thanks to ElmerBrowne's superb arrangements, our fabulous 55 th Reunion was a delightful party. About 12 5 eager participants made it to the Hanover Plain. Cool, sunny weather was provided by class meteorologist Joe Bird just what we wanted for the luncheon celebration at the DOC house on the lush lawn overlooking Occom Pond. High-quality music was heard at many of the events. In the tent there was our own Dan Toan trio for listening and sing-along. Former members of the Glee Club, including Joe HHuber Gard Ashley, and Beezie Smallwood, put on a concert at Hopkins Center. During and after the main banquet, music of the Big Band era featured such Glenn Miller arrangements as "In the Mood" and "Sunrise Serenade." Remember? At the DOC luncheon a dozen undergrads serenaded us. As long as I can remember, Bob and Crosbie MacMillen have been our Hanover-Lyme anchors and hosts. We were all saddened that Bob was so seriously ill as to be unable to attend, but were pleased that Crosbie was able to join us. (Update at press time: Bob MacMillen died on July 4. A wonderful friend to us all, he will be greatly missed. Sincerest sympathy to Crosbie and the family.)

Down by the river at the Ledyard Canoe Club the student attendant showed me the impressive dugout canoe donated by IkeWeed, fabricated by him from a huge pine tree cut on his land in Etna. That student hopes to paddle in it to the sea when he can enlist enough help to portage the 2 45-pound craft. Our financial wizards Ted Miller, Bill Mercer, Sam Williams, Joe Burnett, and others were overjoyed to present to the College a check exceeding our goal by 20 percent. A new slate of officers was elected: President BillMercer, VP John Moore, and secretary Jack Faunce. So ends the fabulous Sam Williams era. The next event will be the Cornell football weekend on September 3 0. See you then.
