Attendance at the September mini-reunion broke our record with a total of 52 celebrants. If there had been prizes for the longest distance traveled, they would have gone to the Rogerses from San Diego and the Holmeses from Tucson. Each class officer reported on his activities for the year. All goes well, especially for the treasurer. Elmer Browne said that his 55th Reunion committee is in high gear, moving fast. It’s not too early to mark your 1995 calendar for June 11-13. Brownie’s estimate is that about 80 alums will be present with wives or significant others. Buchanan Hall at the Tuck School (with plenty of parking) will be the headquarters.
In recognition of his service to the Muse- um of Science in Boston, Bill Mercer was elected a Life Trustee. Lloyd Blanchard retired after 25 years as superintendent of the Westford, Mass., school system in 1982. Even afterthathe was very much involved in school affairs. What a tribute to him it is that the new middle school has been named die Lloyd G. Blanchard school.
Lew Lambert is still safely hunkered down about 3 0 miles west of Mt. St. Helens. At that distance from the east, he might not have made it. We were sorry to learn from John Bertrand of the death of his wife, Janie. She was known to many of us as Dick’s House head nurse, Miss Janiak.
Now that Jack Cowan has moved to Green Valley, Ariz., just a few miles from the Mex- ican border, he has taken a special interest in NAFTA—he’s agin it. By contrast, my for- mer company, Eastman Kodak, believes it will increase both its sales and U.S. employ- ment. Bud Czerny’s home is quite near there in Tucson, but he was most recently seen in South Africa and California. Bill Sinclair will be at the West Palm Beach Country Club between Thanksgiving and Easter, but only after 1 p.m., when he is permitted to shag his golf balls on foot rather than in a cart. Now that Jack and Lois Moody reside in Penn- sylvania rather than in Vermont, they have been happy to enjoy the gourmet repasts pro- duced by DickFunkhouser. We had a pleas- ant surprise when Bob and Didi Gensel came by and took us to lunch on their way to Hanover, then to England and to North Africa. The QE2 was damaged by a rogue wave near Southampton at about the time when Jack and Jean Little were planning to be on board. We hope they came through OK.
