There's good news and bad news. First, the bad news is that our 1991 mini-reunion, originally scheduled for the September 28 weekend, has collapsed for lack of accommodations in the Hanover region. The good news is that Bob MacMillen has found a block of 20 rooms for the October 12 weekend at a new facility in Lyme, the Dowd's Country Inn. That date should be at the peak of the leaf-peeping season. Come join us to see the Holy Cross football team in action. Since I play golf occasionally with a 1940 graduate of Holy Cross (who managed the hockey team at Boston Latin when JoeO'Hare, die late Jack O'Brien, and I played) it would be much appreciated if the Green could win this one.
Sam Williams reports on a micro-reunion at Vero Beach, featuring a spirited tennis competition. All the players, including BobLake, Tom Ballantyne, Bill Bumstead, and their wives wound up the affair with cocktails and buffet at the Harry Hoyts'.
Meanwhile, not everyone in Beantown spends the winter in hibernation. Joe Burnett attends the Hub Club luncheons regularly, where he usually meets Stet Whitcher. They both attended the Dartmouth seminar (held at Harvard) where 140 participants learned about some Middle East problems from two Dartmouth sages.
Ted Miller hosted a luncheon with LloydBlanchard, Bill Mercer, and Joe Burnett to plan alumni fund strategy. Many of us who received financial assistance while in college are especially aware of the importance of the alumni fund. Keep up the good work, Ted.
Buddy Teevens presented an Ivy League Championship ring to John Manley for his unsurpassed interest and support of the football team. What well-deserved recognitioncongratulations, John.
We just learned that Philip Albee died on February 24 after a long illness. Our sympathies to his family.
