Don McCorkindale wrote in April to tell us that he and Louise had a most enjoyable visit from Bill andJackie Maeck who had journeyed from their home in Sun City, Ariz., to house-sit for son Peter, who was traveling abroad. They visited the North Bridge in Concord - "Hardly a man is now alive who remembers that famous day and year!" (To quote Longfellow.)
Our class was well represented at Class Officers Weekend, which took place on May 5 and 6. This is an annual event hosted by the College for the benefit of all classes—ranging this year from 1924 to 1995. Attending for us were Bob Ehinger Bud Hall, Bud Kast PhilHarmon, and Howie Leavitt. Your secretary was unable to be present because of a conflicting family engagement. Phil Harmon, our treasurer, provided a financial report which showed income from dues equal to this year's expenses. Phil notes that we do still have a small surplus or contingency fund in our treasury, and the possibility of using these moneys for projects to benefit the College or to aid students was suggested. It's hoped we can discuss this further at die fall mini-reunion. Bob Field advised that plans are set for this event to take place on the weekend of the Cornell game, September 29-30.
Treasurer Phil writes to declare that summer has finally arrived in the state of Maine and that he has resumed his gardening, golf, hiking, and sailing. Right on, Phil, I believe you have it just about right. Phil has, it should be noted, just completed a service of nine years as a trustee of the Maine Historical Society.
Sadly, we report the deaths of our classmates Donald Lang Miller and WilliamHunt.
Finally, it should be understood that this column, just like the the one above ours, is an equal-opportunity conveyor of news, and as your secretary, I would welcome news of any kind, from anywhere, about anything, anytime! How about it?
